After a year of living as an expat in Clermont-Ferrand (editor’s note: this post was written in 2012, I have since relocated to Montreal) and despite the daily challenges it implies, I find myself loving the feeling of having a selection of places I happily visit on a regular basis, where I’ve come to know exactly what to expect. Whether it’s shopping, drinking, eating or simply hanging out, here are my personal favourite things to do in Clermont-Ferrand, which might come in handy during your next visit.

How’s that for a day in Clermont-Ferrand? I must admit that my daily schedule vaguely resembles this itinerary, except for the exploratory walk and picturesque dinner (however, croissants are, unfortunately for my waistline, a daily occurrence).

Even though I mentioned that Auvergne is sometimes a bit too small for my city girl taste, there is nonetheless lots to see and do for locals and visitors alike.
